Texas Oil Companies is a list of 800 Oil & Gas Operators that drilled wells in Texas last 3 years. Texas has 5 major basins that include;

Barnett Shale – It consists of sedimentary rocks and the productive part of the formation is estimated to stretch from the city of Dallas west and south, covering 5,000 square miles (13,000 km²) and at least 18 counties in Railroad Commission of Texas Districts 5, 7B and 9. The Barnett Shale is one of the largest onshore natural gas fields in the United States.
Eagle Ford Shale – The shale play trends across Texas from the Mexican border into East Texas, roughly 50 miles wide and 400 miles long with an average thickness of 250 feet within Railroad Commission of Texas Districts 1 -6.
Granite Wash – The Granite Wash is a tight sand play located in the Texas Panhandle (Railroad Commission of Texas District 10) and Western Oklahoma. The area covered by the Granite Wash is approximately 160 miles long and 30 miles wide.
Haynesville/Bossier Shale – The Haynesville/Bossier Shale, located in East Texas (Railroad Commission of Texas District 6) and Western Louisiana, is a hydrocarbon-producing geological formation capable of producing large amounts of gas.
Permian Basin – The Permian Basin covers an area approximately 250 miles wide and 300 miles long and is composed of more than 7,000 fields (best represented in Railroad Commission of Texas production figures as districts 7C, 08, and 8A) in West Texas. Permian Basin include the Delaware Basin and Midland Basin.
