  • Artis Exploration Ltd. approved 6 well pad 16-32-031-24W4 – last time they drilled a 4 well pad they worked with Bluestar Engineering Ltd. build a multi-battery. I predict they will build a batter for this site.
  • CANAMAX approved for a 4 well pad 06-33-083-23W5 this brings a total of 3 PADS approved and not drilled. They will most likely need a new oil battery that will contain a small compressor.
  • Peyto has recently signed a definitive agreement to purchase certain mineral rights in the Sundance area that encompass a depleted, high permeability reservoir suitable for a proprietary natural gas storage scheme. They got approval for a two well pad in the area that might require new infrastructure.
  • Granite Oil Corp. drills first oil well since May 2018 and Cardinal Energy Ltd. $5 million increase to budget mostly oil. Is this a sign of improvement?  I recommend you focus lower cost Operators who focus on oil as I think we could see improvement in the sector over the summer.

  • Cardinal Energy Ltd. $5 million increase in capital expenditures for drilling and power generation initiatives
  • Jupiter has scaled back its 2019 capital program in response to the continued weak outlook for AECO natural gas prices. “We are concerned that the issues that have plagued Western Canada for the last two summers and which led to distressed Alberta gas prices will persist, so we have chosen to defer growth initiatives until these issues are addressed,” said Simon Bregazzi, Jupiter’s CEO.
  • A recent liability program proposed by the Alberta Energy Regulator would require companies to spend 4% of deemed inactive liability per year to satisfy the new requirements.
