Goodnight Midstream Expands Eagle Ford Water Infrastructure as Drilling Activity Builds in Karnes and DeWitt Counties

New Texas air permit records indicate Goodnight Midstream has taken ownership or control of at least three saltwater disposal facilities previously operated by CWR Management LLC in the Eagle Ford, adding infrastructure in two of South Texas’s most active oil and gas counties.

The facilities are located in Karnes and DeWitt counties, where drilling data shows operators have drilled 176 wells in 2026 through the latest available data.

The combination of additional produced-water infrastructure and continued drilling activity could be an important signal for oilfield service companies watching the Eagle Ford.

Three CWR Management SWD Facilities Move to Goodnight Midstream

Texas air permit records show three facilities undergoing a New Source Review Change of Ownership from CWR Management LLC to Goodnight Midstream:

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality received the ownership-change applications on August 12, 2026, and the records are listed as complete.

These are changes of ownership for existing facilities rather than applications to construct three new SWDs. However, the transfer is significant because it expands Goodnight Midstream’s position in the heart of the Eagle Ford’s Karnes-DeWitt development corridor.

Goodnight is already an established Eagle Ford water infrastructure operator.

The company entered the Eagle Ford through its 2017 acquisition of Wyatt Water Solutions. By 2019, Goodnight was expanding its DeWitt County pipeline network and developing the Rooster SWD facility south of Yorktown. At the time, its Eagle Ford operations included three SWD facilities and approximately 40 miles of pipeline in DeWitt and Atascosa counties.

Today, Goodnight describes itself as a full-cycle produced-water infrastructure operator across the Permian, Bakken and Eagle Ford, with more than 690 miles of pipeline and a network of processing and disposal facilities.

Why Produced-Water Infrastructure Matters to Drilling

Saltwater disposal infrastructure is closely tied to oil and gas development because producing wells generate water that must be gathered, transported, reused, treated or disposed of.

Goodnight’s business is specifically designed around this requirement. Its operations include produced-water pipelines, disposal facilities, reuse and redelivery systems, and volume planning. The company says its networks are designed to scale alongside customers’ production growth.

That makes the transfer of three SWD facilities in Karnes and DeWitt counties particularly interesting when viewed alongside current drilling activity.

It does not by itself prove that drilling is about to increase. Goodnight could be consolidating existing infrastructure, adding customers, replacing third-party disposal capacity or positioning its network for longer-term demand.

But increasing control over water-handling infrastructure can be a leading indicator worth watching.

176 Wells Drilled in Karnes and DeWitt Counties in 2026

Oilgasleads drilling data shows 176 wells drilled across Karnes and DeWitt counties in 2026 through the current reporting period.

DeWitt County accounts for 94 wells, while Karnes County accounts for 82 wells.

More importantly, activity isn’t being driven by a single small operator. Several major Eagle Ford producers are actively drilling across the two counties.

ConocoPhillips Leads the Region

The standout operator is ConocoPhillips, accounting for 94 of the 176 wells, or approximately 53% of all wells in the two-county dataset.

Its drilling is also almost evenly distributed between the counties:

  • 48 wells in DeWitt County
  • 46 wells in Karnes County

Devon Energy ranks second with 29 wells, all in DeWitt County in the current dataset.

BPX follows with 14 wells, while Repsol has drilled 10.

Karnes County has a broader mix of smaller active operators, including Magnolia Oil & Gas, EOG Resources, Silver Hill Energy Partners, Baytex/Flywheel and GulfTex Energy.

This level of activity creates continuing demand for produced-water gathering and disposal capacity.

Could Goodnight Be Positioning for More Eagle Ford Activity?

That is the question worth watching.

Goodnight has historically expanded its water systems alongside producer development.

When the company expanded its Eagle Ford operations in 2019, it specifically tied the Rooster SWD project to its expanding DeWitt County pipeline network and said it intended to continue expanding its systems in the region.

Goodnight’s current operating model continues to emphasize high-volume pipeline networks that replace truck transportation and provide producers with reliable water-handling capacity.

The newly transferred facilities potentially give Goodnight additional disposal infrastructure around current drilling activity:

What to Watch Next

The CWR-to-Goodnight permit transfers should be viewed as a market signal rather than proof of a coming drilling surge.

But three SWD facilities changing hands in counties where operators have already drilled 176 wells this year is significant enough to monitor.

The next signals to watch include additional CWR Management assets transferring to Goodnight, new SWD permits, pipeline construction, facility modifications, producer water-handling agreements and new well permits around Goodnight’s infrastructure.

If those indicators begin appearing together, the CWR asset transfers could prove to be part of a much larger expansion of Goodnight Midstream’s Eagle Ford produced-water network.

For companies selling into the Eagle Ford, Karnes and DeWitt counties remain two areas worth watching closely.
