EOG-to-BKV 30+ Air Permit Transfers Signal Barnett Shale Asset Transition in North Texas

BKV Corporation’s September 2026 Barnett Shale expansion is now supported by air authorization ownership-change records identifying EOG Resources Inc. as the previous owner. The supplied dataset contains 323 completed ownership-change records assigned to BKV Corporation across Montague and Cooke counties, providing evidence of an EOG-to-BKV facility transition.

BKV separately announced that it closed a Barnett acquisition on September 15, 2026, adding approximately 117,000 net acres, 1,000 gross operated wells and more than 65 MMcfe/d of production, with liquids accounting for over half of production. The package includes approximately 350 Bcfe of proved developed producing reserves. BKV did not identify the seller or disclose the purchase price; the transfer records support a connection to EOG’s assets, although they do not establish the full transaction scope.

Using the county field, the transferred facilities align geographically with the Barnett Shale Combo play in the Fort Worth Basin, where EOG historically developed oil, natural gas and liquids production in Montague and Cooke counties. This is a geographic classification; the CSV does not contain a producing-formation field.

All records are classified as Permit by Rule, with TCEQ received dates of September 29–30, 2026. These represent unique regulated entities rather than individual wells, and the received dates do not establish the ownership transfer’s effective date.

The announced acquisition also adds a 180 MMcf/d gas plant, approximately 340 miles of gas gathering lines, 225 miles of water gathering infrastructure, two disposal wells and an operating carbon capture project with a CO₂ pipeline and injection well.

Industry Impact and OFS Sales Strategy

For OFS suppliers, the asset mix suggests opportunities in production optimization, compression, chemicals, water management and Maintenance Plus programs integrating SCADA, automation and field connectivity. Sales teams should prioritize BKV’s production, facilities and procurement personnel to understand integration plans and vendor requirements. Improving recovery and reliability across existing North Texas assets supports the U.S. “Safe Barrel” strategy through sustained domestic energy supply.
