Cardinal Midstream continues to strengthen its position in the heart of the Delaware Basin with the completion of 36 miles of large-diameter natural gas-gathering pipelines across Eddy County, New Mexico, and Loving County, Texas. The expansion includes both high- and low-pressure lines, designed to enhance connectivity and reliability for producers operating in one of the most active oil and gas regions in the United States.

With this latest buildout, Cardinal now owns and operates approximately 150 miles of natural gas infrastructure in the Delaware Basin. The system supports growing production volumes and provides critical gathering and transportation services to operators developing the region’s prolific shale formations.
Processing Expansion to Meet Rising Demand
In tandem with the pipeline expansion, Cardinal Midstream also announced a major capacity upgrade at its Pecos River Processing Complex in Loving County. The project—expected to be completed in early 2026—will add 220 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of new processing capacity. Once operational, the complex will boast a total capacity of 360 MMcf/d, positioning the company to accommodate future production growth and additional customer needs.
Cardinal Midstream CEO Doug Dormer emphasized the importance of this expansion in supporting continued regional growth:
“The Delaware Basin continues to see unprecedented production increases expected to continue for years to come. These significant expansion projects provide high-quality energy infrastructure that ensures reliable midstream services for our customers’ future development.”
Strategic Growth Backed by EnCap Flatrock Midstream
Cardinal’s presence in the Delaware Basin began in 2023 with the acquisition of Medallion Midstream Services’ Delaware Basin assets, which included 80 miles of gathering lines and a 140 MMcf/d processing facility. Since the acquisition, the company has executed several system expansions, including new compressor stations and pipeline connections designed to optimize flow efficiency.
In 2022, Cardinal secured an initial $300 million capital commitment from EnCap Flatrock Midstream, providing the financial flexibility to accelerate development across its core operating areas. That partnership continues to underpin the company’s aggressive growth strategy, focused on building scalable, long-term midstream infrastructure in high-growth basins.
A Long-Term Bet on the Delaware Basin
As the Delaware Basin cements its role as the top-producing region in the United States, operators continue to rely on midstream partners capable of keeping pace with record volumes of associated gas and liquids. Cardinal’s latest projects demonstrate both confidence in basin longevity and a clear commitment to providing the infrastructure backbone that enables sustained upstream activity.
By combining strategic acquisitions with targeted expansions, Cardinal Midstream Partners is positioning itself as a key player in the evolving Delaware Basin landscape—one where reliability, scale, and capital efficiency remain critical to long-term success.
