Oklahoma City–based Continental Resources is putting its stamp on the future home of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder through a newly announced 15-year naming rights partnership. The arena, set to open in late summer 2028, will be known as Continental Coliseum.
The new venue is being built on the site of the former Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City and is expected to play a major role in the city’s continued economic and cultural growth. Designed by MANICA Architecture, the arena will feature a modern 360-degree glass curtain wall, enhanced sightlines, and an intimate seating design aimed at creating a high-energy game-day experience.
For Continental Resources, the partnership goes beyond branding. Founder Harold Hamm emphasized the shared values between the company and the Thunder, highlighting Oklahoma pride, resilience, and a commitment to community. CEO Doug Lawler described the agreement as a powerful alignment of strength, service, and local ownership.
The deal reflects a broader trend of energy companies investing in high-visibility partnerships that reinforce regional identity and long-term community ties. While financial terms were not disclosed, the 15-year commitment signals confidence in both the Oklahoma market and the enduring value of the Thunder franchise.
When it opens for the 2028–29 NBA season, Continental Coliseum will mark a new chapter for Oklahoma City—bringing together sports, business, and community under one roof.
