Tamarack Valley Energy and Headwater Exploration have agreed to a C$10 billion all-stock merger, creating a Clearwater-focused producer with more than 1,500 sections, 300 million boe of 2P reserves and over 3,000 drilling locations. The combination strengthens Canada’s Safe Barrel position while creating OFS opportunities in drilling, heavy-oil production, artificial lift, infrastructure, automation and field optimization.
Tamarack Valley Energy has drilled 39 wells year-to-date in 2026, with the majority of activity concentrated in the Clearwater play, particularly Marten Hills and Nipisi. To support this development, the company is upgrading a Marten-area facility with additional compression (1,883 kW total) and pumping capacity to improve production efficiency and handle increasing volumes.
Tamarack Valley Energy has positioned the Clearwater formation as its core growth asset, driving production with large multi-well pad drilling programs and expanding waterflood infrastructure to improve recovery. Pad analysis of recent drilling activity shows 140 wells developed across 29 pads—primarily in Marten Hills—demonstrating the scale and efficiency of Tamarack’s pad-based development strategy.
