These operators received new well permits last week after recording no permits earlier in 2026. First-permit activity can provide an early indication of renewed drilling, development or infrastructure spending. The group includes emerging E&P companies, mature conventional operators, a water-management company and a major mining operator.

The highest-priority drilling leads this week are Desert Eagle Operating, Paladin Petroleum III and RCK Oil and Gas, while Validus Water represents a potentially valuable infrastructure and water-services opportunity.
This is a strong group for a “First Permit YTD / Reactivated Drillers” segment. The seven operators break down quite differently from a sales-intelligence perspective:
Operator First Permit YTD Signal Operator Profile Sales Opportunity Desert Eagle Operating LLC High Emerging gas/helium developer — Colorado Drilling, completions, gas processing, helium-related infrastructure Freeport-McMoRan Morenci Inc. High / Unusual Major mining operator — Arizona Drilling contractors, water, environmental, civil, infrastructure Paladin Petroleum III, L.L.C. High Small active E&P — Texas Drilling, directional, completions, rentals, water/logistics RCK Oil and Gas LLC High Small independent E&P — Oklahoma Drilling and completion services; particularly timely given new development activity Sunland Production Co., Inc. Moderate Mature conventional operator — LA/TX/MS Workovers, well servicing, production optimization, P&A Validus Water LLC High, but infrastructure-driven Water-management affiliate — Oklahoma Water transfer, disposal, pipelines, pumps, automation, construction Wilmoth Interests, Inc. Moderate Mature conventional operator — Pennsylvania Well servicing, workovers, artificial lift, production optimization, P&A
Desert Eagle Operating LLC is a Dallas-based independent natural gas and helium operator with 11 identified wells, including 8 producing wells, concentrated around its Red Rocks development in Las Animas County, Colorado. The company is producing from the Lyons formation and reported approximately 29.5 MMcf of gas in March 2026, with regulatory records specifically classifying production from several Red Rocks wells as helium
Freeport-McMoRan Morenci Inc. operates the massive Morenci copper and molybdenum mining complex in Greenlee County, Arizona, where 2025 production totaled approximately 700 million pounds of copper and 7 million pounds of molybdenum.
Paladin Petroleum III, L.L.C. is an Austin-based independent oil and gas operator with approximately 12 currently producing wells in Texas, combining Permian Basin assets in Howard, Crane and Winkler counties with mature conventional oil and gas properties in South Texas. Its portfolio includes Spraberry horizontal wells around the Read and Powell properties as well as legacy South Texas production, and current data indicates the company remains active in 2026 with at least one identified future drilling permit.
RCK Oil and Gas LLC is a Denton, Texas-based independent operator (OCC #23906) with at least 16 directly identifiable active wells concentrated primarily in Payne and Lincoln counties, Oklahoma, including horizontal producers, conventional oil and gas wells and SWD infrastructure. The company is also pursuing new development in 2026, with an active Oklahoma Corporation Commission drilling-and-spacing case covering Section 25-18N-4E in Payne County, making RCK a potentially timely target for drilling and oilfield-service sales.
Sunland Production Co., Inc. is a Shreveport-based independent oil and gas operator with a long operating history across Louisiana, East Texas and Mississippi, with approximately 10.36 million barrels of cumulative oil production, 21.59 Bcf of gas production and 7 currently producing wells reported across its aggregated portfolio. The company has a much larger legacy footprint—including 147 historical wells associated with its Louisiana operations—making Sunland primarily a mature-asset operator with potential demand for production optimization, well servicing, workovers and P&A services rather than large-scale new drilling.
Validus Water LLC is the water-focused Oklahoma operating entity associated with Denver-based Validus Energy, registered as OCC Operator #25251 and positioned to support the group’s Mid-Continent oil and gas development through water-management and disposal infrastructure. Although no producing oil and gas wells were identified directly under Validus Water LLC, affiliated Validus Energy II Midcon operates approximately 973 producing wells across Oklahoma and Texas and is one of Oklahoma’s most active current developers, including leading the state’s DUC inventory in August 2026.
Wilmoth Interests, Inc. is a fifth-generation, Marion Center, Pennsylvania-based oil and gas producer with a large legacy portfolio of 100+ identifiable active/associated conventional wells across Pennsylvania and historical operations and mineral interests in Texas. Although the current aggregated operator dataset reports zero producing wells, Wilmoth has produced approximately 198,000 barrels of oil and 11.4 Bcf of natural gas historically, making it primarily a mature conventional-asset operator with potential demand for well servicing, workovers, production optimization and P&A services.
