Centalion Acquires Silver Hill’s Haynesville Gas Assets, Expanding Gulf Coast Supply Position

Centalion, formerly Gunvor, has acquired Silver Hill Energy Partners’ upstream and midstream natural gas assets in Texas and Louisiana. Announced October 5, the transaction includes approximately 72,000 net acres, 300 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of net production, and 300 gross operated development locations across the Haynesville and Bossier development areas. The companies did not disclose financial terms; earlier reporting placed the potential consideration between $1.2 billion and $1.5 billion.

Silver Hill built the position through acquisitions and development, increasing production from below 100 MMcf/d to more than 300 MMcf/d while historically operating up to four rigs. Investment in gathering infrastructure, saltwater disposal and transportation agreements helped establish a platform capable of supporting additional development. That historical rig activity does not establish the assets’ current rig count.

The acquisition strengthens Centalion’s strategy of connecting Gulf Coast gas production with infrastructure, marketing and trading operations serving domestic and LNG demand. Centalion and its partner, Western Natural Resources, intend to pursue further development, although the announcement provides no specific drilling schedule or capital budget. Silver Hill retains operated assets in the Bakken and Eagle Ford.

Industry Impact

For OFS suppliers, the transaction points to potential opportunities in drilling, completions, compression, gathering, water management and production maintenance. Existing production provides a substantial service base, while undeveloped locations offer longer-term growth potential. Suppliers should track operator transitions, permit activity, rig mobilizations and procurement contacts to identify when development intentions become purchasing opportunities. These are commercial implications of the asset package, rather than announced contract awards.
