Devon Energy funds 80 scholarships with Folds of Honor

Devon Energy announced a new partnership with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit dedicated to providing life-changing scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military and first responders.

“At Devon, we have tremendous respect for the military members and first responders who make the ultimate sacrifices to keep the rest of us safe,” said Rick Muncrief, president and CEO of Devon Energy. “We believe our partnership with Folds of Honor will make a positive impact on the family members left behind.”

Through Devon’s contribution, a total of 80 scholarships were awarded, with 42 recipients in Oklahoma, 10 in New Mexico, 10 in North Dakota, 10 in Texas and 8 in Wyoming.

“We are grateful Devon Energy shares our values in honoring those who selflessly defend and protect our freedoms,” said Lt Col Dan Rooney, CEO and Founder of Folds of Honor. “We are humbled by the unwavering support of partners like Devon who embrace our mission to ensure no family is left behind.”

One of the Oklahoma recipients, University of Central Oklahoma Senior Krista Tarvin, says this scholarship symbolizes her father’s bravery and commitment to his country.

“My dad is my hero, and it is extremely heartwarming to have him be recognized by others as well,” Tarvin said. “I am so thankful for this scholarship and how it has helped me further my education.”
