The reported 2.2 magnitude quake followed a series of weaker rumblings. Under the mitigation plan created some years ago by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, it is to be enacted after a 2.0 magnitude reading.
Regulators enacted the plan and as a result, Paloma Resources paused the completion operation for a reported 6-hour period.
The Oklahoma Geological Survey indicated the quake was one of four recorded in the past 24 hours in an area northwest of Union City. The strongest, recorded by the OGS at 2.1 magnitude, was about 6 miles from the city and its epicenter was about one mile west of the El Reno Municipal airport.
