Saturn Oil & Gas Expands Into Manitoba With C$302 Million Corex Resources Acquisition

Saturn Oil & Gas has agreed to acquire privately held Corex Resources for C$302 million in cash and shares, adding approximately 7,000 barrels per day of light oil-weighted production in Manitoba. The transaction includes C$252 million in cash and C$50 million in Saturn common shares, expanding the company’s production base alongside an established drilling program in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The acquired assets include future development locations and potential open-hole multilateral drilling targets that are not reflected in currently booked reserves. Saturn expects the assets to generate approximately $192 million in net operating income over the next 12 months at current strip pricing. Following the acquisition, the company anticipates 2026 exit production of 54,000–56,000 boe/d, while maintaining full-year average guidance of 43,000–44,000 boe/d and its target of net debt below one times adjusted EBITDA by year-end 2027.

The Manitoba expansion follows substantial drilling activity across Saturn’s existing operating areas. The supplied 2026 drilling dataset contains 98 records, including 87 in Saskatchewan, nine in Alberta and two without a province identified. Grouping the Field column shows Bakken leading with 27 records, followed by Viking with 21 and Lower Watrous/Alida with 14. Pembina accounts for nine records, while Torquay contributes eight. These figures describe Saturn’s reported drilling activity and are separate from the acquired Corex production.

Eight distinct rigs appear in the dataset after standardizing naming variations. Horizon 29 accounts for 26 records and Savanna 425 for 22, followed by Stampede 8 with 15, Stampede 19 with 11 and Stampede 1 with 10. Ensign 418, Predator 27 and Ensign 808 account for the remaining 14 records. These counts reflect rig participation during the reporting period, rather than the number of rigs currently operating.

Industry Impact

For oilfield service companies and suppliers, the acquisition broadens Saturn’s potential purchasing footprint into Manitoba while complementing its Saskatchewan and Alberta activity. Existing production creates ongoing maintenance and optimization requirements, while undeveloped locations could support future drilling, directional services, artificial lift and infrastructure work. The timing and scale of additional opportunities will depend on Saturn’s integration plans and capital allocation.

Two-Sentence Summary

Saturn Oil & Gas has agreed to acquire Corex Resources for C$302 million, adding approximately 7,000 barrels per day of Manitoba light oil production and potential multilateral drilling opportunities. The expansion complements 98 records in Saturn’s supplied 2026 drilling dataset, concentrated in Saskatchewan, and could broaden opportunities for drilling contractors, production service companies and equipment suppliers.
