With improving natural gas prices and a reinforced drilling program, the company is clearly positioning itself as a cost-efficient, technologically adept player in one of North America’s premier gas basins.

Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE: CRK) has set its sights on Western Haynesville as a key growth driver in 2025, following signs of rising natural gas prices. In its Q4 2024 earnings report, the company outlined its expansion strategy in the play, highlighting increased drilling activity and infrastructure investment.

Comstock Resources financial results reflect the impact of very weak natural gas prices, which led to significant losses despite hedging gains and increased production.

Comstock drilled 67 (55.5 net) operated horizontal Haynesville/Bossier shale wells in 2023, which had an average lateral length of 10,796 feet. Comstock also turned 74 (55.7 net) operated wells to sales in 2023, which had an average initial production rate of 25 MMcf per day.

Solid results from Haynesville shale drilling program with 15 (12.0 net) operated wells turned to sales since the Company’s last update with an average initial production of 21 MMcf per day.

Comstock has purchased all or parts of Legacy Haynesville assets located in Robertson, Leon and Freestone counties.
