TAQA North (formerly PrimeWest Energy Trust) explores for and produces oil and natural gas from maturing properties in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. In 2004 PrimeWest Energy Trust acquired Seventh Energy, an Alberta-based oil and gas exploration and production company. The company also acquired Canadian gas assets from Calpine Corporation. In 2008 PrimeWest Energy Trust was acquired by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC and became TAQA North. At the time of the acquisition the company reported proved plus probable reserves of more than 480 million barrels of oil equivalent.
