Targa’s Permian Growth Outlook Gets Local Context from Reeves County Compressor Filing and Drilling Activity

Targa Resources’ expanding Permian gas business, a new compressor-station registration notification and 329 drilling records in Reeves County provide a combined view of upstream activity and midstream infrastructure demand. Together, these signals highlight a market worth monitoring for oilfield service companies, equipment suppliers and contractors.

Permian gas growth supports continued infrastructure investment

During its second-quarter 2026 earnings call, Targa reported record Permian gas volumes of 7.2 billion cubic feet per day, up approximately 7% from the first quarter and 14% year over year. Management said producer activity was tracking ahead of its initial expectations, supporting continued growth into 2027.

Targa identified five Delaware Basin processing plants—Copperhead I and II, Yeti I and II, and Roadrunner III—that remained on schedule. In the Midland Basin, its East Driver plant entered service ahead of schedule late in the second quarter.

Management also pointed to increasing gas-to-oil ratios and strong producer activity as reasons to expect multiple processing-plant additions annually. Improved gas takeaway capacity had helped most price-driven shut-in volumes return to Targa’s system in July, reinforcing the importance of infrastructure that connects production with downstream markets.

Magma Compressor Station adds a Reeves County development signal

Against that backdrop, Targa Delaware LLC completed a new standard-permit registration notification for the Magma Compressor Station near Coyanosa in Reeves County on October 19, 2026. The filing identifies Project 416845, Permit 185775 and regulated entity RN112551148.

The record adds a specific local facility to Targa’s broader Delaware infrastructure story. However, it documents a completed notification action; it does not establish construction completion, operating status, station capacity or a connection to any of Targa’s named processing plants.

Local drilling data shows a broad customer market

OilGasLeads’ supplied Reeves County dataset contains 329 drilling records with 2026 activity dates. Permian Resources leads with 54 records, followed by BPX with 34, OXY USA with 33, VTX Energy Partners with 23 and TRP Energy with 20. These five accounts represent approximately 50% of the dataset.

The leading contractor–rig combinations are Nabors X49 with 16 records, H&P 252 with 15, and H&P 625, Nabors X50 and Precision 608 with 14 each. These are historical activity counts, rather than a current active-rig count.

What it means for suppliers

The combined picture suggests opportunities across drilling services, gas gathering, compression, instrumentation, controls and equipment maintenance. The Magma filing offers a facility-specific prospecting signal, while the drilling data identifies active accounts in the surrounding county. Neither source establishes that those operators supply gas to Magma; confirming gathering relationships and project timing remains essential before tying individual drilling programs to the station.
