Enbridge Wood Buffalo Pipeline Extension

The Wood Buffalo Pipeline Extension Project (the Project) is a new 459 km, 762 mm (30-inch) pipeline, transporting diluted bitumen (dilbit) south from the Enbridge Cheecham Terminal to the Enbridge Battle River Terminal. The pipeline was never completed. ROW was prepped and pipe stock piled and that’s where it’s been sitting since late 2014 early 2015. And it won’t get completed until another oil producing project is started in the Ft.Mac area. The majority of this new pipeline will be constructed adjacent to the existing Line 19 and Athabasca Pipeline Twinning Project (APTP) pipeline corridors. Seventy one kilometres (km) of the Project Right of Way (RoW) will be constructed through the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range (CLAWR). In addition to the mainline, there are six proposed expansions or alterations to existing pump stations along the Project route. The project also includes the addition of a new pump station at the Cheecham Terminal. The anticipated in-service date for the Project is May 2017, with the construction of the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range (CLAWR) section (Spread 1) beginning as early as December 2014.
