Caturus Advances Wellhead-to-Water Strategy with Commonwealth LNG FID and Active Eagle Ford Development

Caturus LLC has announced a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) for its Commonwealth LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, marking a major milestone in the company’s strategy to build an integrated natural gas platform from wellhead to water.

The 9.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) LNG export terminal secured $9.75 billion in project financing and is expected to begin operations in 2030. Long-term LNG supply agreements have already been signed with EQT, Glencore, Mercuria, PETRONAS, and Aramco Trading.

The LNG project is supported by a growing upstream natural gas business. According to Oilgasleads drilling data, Caturus (formerly Kimmeridge Energy) drilled 26 wells during 2026, with activity concentrated in South Texas. Webb County accounted for 12 wells, McMullen County for 11 wells, and Live Oak County for two wells. H&P Rig 260 drilled 11 wells, while Nabors rigs X22, X33, and X35 drilled the remaining locations.

The drilling program is focused primarily in the Eagle Ford Shale and South Texas gas corridor, one of North America’s most strategic natural gas producing regions. The area benefits from abundant gas reserves, established gathering and processing infrastructure, and direct pipeline connectivity to Gulf Coast LNG export facilities.

What Play Are These Wells Targeting?

The drilling activity is concentrated in Webb, McMullen, and Live Oak Counties, which are core counties within the Eagle Ford Shale and South Texas gas corridor. Cherokee County activity represents a smaller East Texas position, but the overwhelming majority of drilling is tied to South Texas natural gas development.

This geographic advantage supports Caturus’ integrated wellhead-to-water model by providing a reliable source of feedgas for the Commonwealth LNG project while reducing transportation costs and improving supply chain control.

For oilfield service companies, the opportunity extends beyond drilling and completions. Continued Eagle Ford development will drive demand for directional drilling, MWD/LWD, cementing, water management, production chemicals, compression, gas processing, pipeline construction, automation, and integrity services. At the same time, Commonwealth LNG creates a multi-year opportunity for engineering, construction, fabrication, electrical and instrumentation, rotating equipment, environmental, and operations support providers.

As global LNG demand continues to grow, Caturus is positioning itself to capture value across the entire natural gas supply chain, from South Texas production to international LNG exports.
