Williams Eyes Major Haynesville Expansion with $5.5B Momentum Midstream Acquisition

Williams is positioning itself to strengthen its role in the growing U.S. natural gas and LNG value chain, with reports indicating the company is nearing a $5.5 billion acquisition of Momentum Midstream. If completed, the deal would significantly expand Williams’ footprint in the Haynesville Shale, adding approximately 4,000 miles of natural gas pipelines that connect production in East Texas and northern Louisiana to 10 LNG export facilities and 26 power plants along the Gulf Coast.

The acquisition aligns with Williams’ long-term strategy of investing in natural gas infrastructure to support rising LNG exports and domestic power demand. Momentum’s recently completed NG3 pipeline, capable of transporting 2.3 billion cubic feet of gas per day, would complement Williams’ existing 30,000-mile pipeline network and reinforce its position as a leading North American midstream operator. Combined with the company’s ongoing Northeast Supply Enhancement project, the transaction highlights Williams’ continued focus on expanding pipeline capacity to meet growing energy demand both domestically and internationally.
