Properties in the Smoky River Region include Karr, Kakwa all located southwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta. The primary reservoirs being developed are the Dunvegan, Cardium, and Montney resource play.

These reservoirs are characterized by thick oil columns with significant oil in place. This area utilizes pad-based horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracturing, including extended reach horizontals that exhibit a lower decline profile than in many areas due to the significant oil in place. The Region is comprised of large-scale opportunities and significant inventory setting up Smoky River to provide material future organic growth.

ARTIS EXPLORATION LTD. IS A PRIVATELY HELD COMPANY EXPLORING FOR SCALABLE RESOURCE OPPORTUNITIES IN WESTERN CANADA.   Primary an oil producer in the Duvernay shale play in the TWINING & HUXLEY field.

Duvernay zone within the defined geographic area around Fox Creek/Kaybob South, we can quickly see that Chevron Canada Limited (Chevron) is the largest player. The ownership structure of this area is quite different from that of the southern area of the Duvernay play which is centered more around Red Deer/Lacombe.  The top players in the Fox Creek are Chevron, Shell Canada Limited (Shell) (these assets are now owned by Crescent Point Energy) and ExxonMobil Canada Ltd (Exxon) versus Vesta Energy Ltd (Vesta), Artis Exploration Ltd (Artis) and Baytex Energy Corp (Baytex), so we can see that the large, multinational E&P companies have really dominated the Fox Creek Duvernay play.

Duvernay Shale natural gas formation located in Alberta harbor 9.6 billion bbl of liquid byproducts and premium light oil. Duvernay Shale is expected to have more marketable oil resource (3.4 billion barrels) than the Bakken Formation in Saskatchewan (1.4 billion barrels) and Montney Formation in Alberta and B.C. (1.1 billion barrels).

Insignia Energy (formerly Flagship Energy) is looking to make its mark in Alberta’s rich hydrocarbon basins. The oil and gas exploration and development company focuses on finding and exploiting high quality, long-lived reserves in properties in northern, eastern, and central Alberta. Insignia Energy produces about 3,300 barrels of oil equivalent per day of natural gas. The company has proved reserves in 7.9 million barrels of oil equivalent and an undeveloped land base of 235,000 net acres. In 2008 Insignia Energy completed a reverse takeover of Flagship Energy. In 2009 it expanded further, acquiring fellow explorer Grey Wolf Exploration.

Montney Formation is a major shale gas and tight oil resource. … This estimate makes it one of the largest known gas resources in the world and equivalent to 145 years of Canada’s 2012 consumption. Gas is produced from the Montney Formation in both British Columbia and Alberta.

The Brazeau River area is located over 180 kilometers southwest of Edmonton, Alberta, from Township 41-44 and Range 12-13 west of the fifth meridian.

Deep Basin assets provide short-cycle development opportunities with high return potential. The Elmworth gas field is located within the Deep basin near Grande Prairie, Alberta (Fig. 1). The Deep basin covers about 26,000 sq miles and appears to contain an enormous amount of gas in different-quality rocks. Masters1 has estimated the Deep basin could contain more than 400 Tcf of gas, recoverable at various levels of price and technology.
