⚡ Phase I Success

  • Fully operational since January 2025, achieving commercial status only 16 months after FID—proof of Trinity’s commitment to efficient delivery.
  • The first greenfield gas storage project in Texas in over a decade, it brings roughly 10% additional storage capacity to ERCOT.
  • Built strategically to enhance grid reliability, this facility acts as a buffer during peak demand periods—bolstered by lessons from Winter Storm Uri—and supports the soaring energy requirements of data centers and AI developments in the region.

✅ Phase II: The Path Forward

Buoyed by early success and strong customer uptake, Trinity is moving into Phase II, with completion targeted for Q2 2026. Demand from utilities, power generators, producers, marketers, and LNG players has driven momentum for expanded capacity and higher deliverability. This phase not only strengthens grid operations but also underscores the facility’s role as a cornerstone of Texas energy infrastructure.

🛢️ New Well Permits

Last week alone (July 1–7), Trinity secured five new well permits in Anderson County—all classified as storage wells—marking early steps in the physical rollout of Phase II. These wells form the foundation of the next phase, enabling greater injection and withdrawal rates that are vital to meeting peak-period needs and diversifying customer supply options.

🌟 Why It Matters

  1. Strengthened Grid Resilience
The new wells and expanded capacity are direct responses to vulnerabilities exposed in recent storms, bolstering ERCOT’s ability to maintain supply during high-demand events.
  2. Scalable, Customer-Centric Infrastructure
By growing their storage footprint, Trinity demonstrates commitment to serving a wide spectrum of customers with tailored solutions—from utility balancing needs to LNG-linked market strategies.
  3. Energy Transition Alignment
Underpinned by Transition Equity Partners’ “Responsible Decarbonization™” strategy, Trinity’s expansion balances Texas’s clean energy goals with core priorities: availability, affordability, and reliability.

🔜 Looking Ahead

With Phase II development already underway and well permits in hand, Trinity Gas Storage is clearly accelerating toward stronger, more flexible, and future-ready energy storage solutions. As the facility scales toward full 24 Bcf capacity and beyond, it stands as a pivotal part of Texas’s clean, secure, and digitally enabled energy future.
