Venture Global’s Expanding U.S. LNG Footprint: Baker Hughes Secures Major Contract

The U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector is witnessing a major expansion, driven by Venture Global’s ambitious projects across Louisiana. As global energy demand surges and geopolitical shifts impact supply chains, Venture Global is positioning itself as a leading provider of LNG, ensuring energy security for key international markets.

Venture Global’s LNG Projects: Transforming U.S. LNG Exports

Venture Global is actively developing four large-scale LNG export facilities along the Gulf Coast, reinforcing the United States’ role as a dominant LNG supplier.

1. Calcasieu Pass LNG

Located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, the Calcasieu Pass LNG terminal is a state-of-the-art facility designed to deliver at least 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG. The project integrates modular liquefaction technology to enhance efficiency and reduce construction timelines. Calcasieu Pass has already shipped multiple LNG cargoes, marking its place as a key player in the LNG market.

2. Plaquemines LNG

Situated in Plaquemines Parish, about 20 miles south of New Orleans, this project is under active construction. When completed, it will have an export capacity of at least 20 MTPA. Recently, Venture Global announced the successful loading and departure of the first LNG cargo from the Plaquemines facility, a significant milestone in its development.

3. CP2 LNG

Planned near the Calcasieu Pass terminal, CP2 LNG is another major project expected to add 20 MTPA to Venture Global’s export capacity. This project is in the engineering and procurement phase and will further expand U.S. LNG infrastructure.

4. CP3 LNG

Also in Cameron Parish, the CP3 LNG project is designed to boost U.S. LNG exports by an additional 30 MTPA. This project, still in the development stage, underscores Venture Global’s commitment to expanding LNG capacity to meet growing global demand.

Baker Hughes Secures Major Contract for Venture Global’s LNG Expansion

In a significant development, Baker Hughes has won a major contract to support Venture Global’s LNG projects, further strengthening the company’s role in the U.S. energy landscape. The contract includes the provision of a modularized LNG system and a power island for Venture Global’s facilities. Additionally, Baker Hughes signed a multi-year services frame agreement covering maintenance, inspections, repairs, and engineering support for phases 1 and 2 of Plaquemines LNG.

“As power demand surges, LNG has a critical role to play in providing a reliable, flexible fuel source that can be quickly scaled to meet rising demand,” said Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes.

Baker Hughes has been a strategic partner to Venture Global, supplying LNG technology for more than 100 MTPA of production capacity. Its continued involvement in Venture Global’s projects highlights the crucial role technology providers play in the growth of the LNG sector.

The Future of U.S. LNG and Energy Security

The expansion of Venture Global’s LNG projects comes at a critical time when the global energy landscape is shifting. With renewed policy support under the Trump administration, LNG exports are set to grow, reversing the previous pause on new LNG projects. This expansion strengthens the U.S. position as a key LNG supplier and provides crucial energy security for global markets reliant on stable natural gas supplies.

With Baker Hughes onboard as a major technology and service provider, Venture Global’s projects are well-positioned to enhance operational efficiency and drive forward the next phase of U.S. LNG growth. As the world increasingly turns to LNG as a reliable energy source, these developments mark a pivotal moment for both U.S. energy exports and the broader global energy market.
