This acquisition allows WildFire to operate over 2,000 wells on 873,000 net acres across several counties in Texas, including Fayette, Bastrop, Lee, Austin, Washington, Burleson, Brazos, Milam, Robertson, Madison, and Grimes. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Steve Habachy, WildFire’s President and COO, emphasized the strategic fit of the new assets with their existing acreage and the company’s ongoing strategy of seeking similar acquisitions to enhance their operations and scale in the Eagle Ford.

In May, WildFire also entered into an agreement to acquire 237,000 net acres and interests in 465 wells from Apache Corporation and its subsidiaries. This acquisition includes assets with net daily production averaging 11,000 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in the first quarter, with 67 percent of the production being liquids. WildFire estimated that the unaudited net proved reserves were approximately 40 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) as of December 31, 2023. Following this acquisition, WildFire’s pro forma net daily production will surpass 50,000 boe, consisting of 85 percent liquids.

WildFire’s expanding footprint in the Eagle Ford includes approximately 550,000 net acres prospective for the Austin Chalk, as well as acreage in the Woodbine, Buda, and Georgetown formations. The acquisition of Apache’s assets builds on previous acquisitions, including Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s Brazos Valley region assets in March and prior acquisitions of MD America Energy, LLC in March 2022 and Hawkwood Energy, LLC in August 2021. These strategic acquisitions have enabled WildFire to consolidate the eastern Eagle Ford basin and establish a premier contiguous asset base, making it the largest operator in the entire Eagle Ford trend.

WildFire Energy, founded in 2019 and funded by Warburg Pincus, Kayne Anderson, and its management, focuses on optimizing and developing production-weighted oil and gas assets in onshore U.S. basins using modern technologies and extensive operating experience.
