Coterra Energy Slashing Marcellus Budget 55%, Production by 6%

Coterra announced on Friday during its fourth quarter and full-year 2023 update that in 2024, the company will slash spending on new drilling in the Marcellus by 55% (dropping $460 million) and that production will drop by an estimated 6% in the Marcellus.

Our 2023 net production in the Marcellus Shale was 377 MBoe per day, representing 57 percent of our total equivalent production for the year. Net natural gas production in 2023 averaged 2,263 MMcf per day, representing 78 percent of our total natural gas production. As of December 31, 2023, we had a total of 1,108.2 producing net wells in the Marcellus Shale, of which approximately 99 percent are operated by us.
